Submit a Nomination for the E9-1-1 Institute Board of Directors

Company Representative August 22, 2010 Product & Service Announcements

The E-911 Institute shares the Mission of the  Congressional E9-1-1 Caucus  promoting public education and awareness on E9-1-1 and emergency communications issues.  The E9-1-1 Institute’s operations are overseen by a Board of Directors, working closely with the Executive Director.

The E9-1-1 Institute Board has been comprised of  fifteen members.  Four (4) of these seats are permanent seats:  They are held by an APCO, NENA, & NASNA appointed representative and the Executive Director of the E9-1-1 Institute.  The other eleven members are representatives from the following constituencies.  They each serve 2-year terms:

  • One (1) person from the wireless (CMRS) industry;
  • One (1) person representing a major telecommunication carrier/company;
  • One (1) person representing a small telecommunication company;
  • Two (2) representatives from a vendor/integrator/software company;
  • One (1) representative from an IP based company;
  • One (1) representative from other non-profit organizations involved in public health or public safety issues;
  • One (1) representative from an accredited college or university; and
  • Three (3) representatives from the membership at large.

Each year, the E9-1-1 Institute holds an election for the Board of Directors.   However, the seats up for election each year are staggered to maintain consistency and prevent a large turn over of the Board in one year.

The following six (6) seats are open for 2010-2011 election this year:

  • One (1) Academic representative;
  • Two positions from the Membership at Large;
  • One (1) Large telecommunications carrier/company;
  • One (1) IP Enabled representative; and
  • One (1) Wireless Carrier representative;

The current Board Members representing the seats up for re-election are:

  • Mr. Angel A. Arocho representing the IP Enabled position;
  • Mr. Brad Bernthal, J.D. representing the Academic position;
  • Ms. Thera Bradshaw representing one of the Member at Large positions;
  • Mr. Jim Bugel representing the Large Telecommunication Carrier position;
  • Mr. Paul Fahey representing one of the Member at Large positions; and
  • Mr. Jim Nixon, ENP representing the Wireless Carrier position.

The E9-1-1 Institute Board established an election committee, chaired by Richard Taylor, Member of the E9-1-1 Institute and Board of Directors to oversee this year’s election.  The committee is ready to receive nominations for open board positions.  Any member of the E9-1-1 Institute may submit a nomination. If you are interested in nominating someone for the listed positions, please fill out the nomination form via the E9-1-1 Institute’s web site or download the Word or Adobe files and submit by   Friday, September 10, 2010.  Instructions for submitting your nomination are on the website and form.

All nominations will then be sent to all E9-1-1 Nomination Committee to verify eligibility.  The election will be held Sept. 15 to Oct. 3 via the website. The results will be announced the week of Oct. 13.
