The External Alarm Interface Exchange celebrated another victory on August 18th when the City of Richmond (VA) and Vector Security migrated to a new method of transmitting alarm data using Nlets, newly assigned Nlets Message Keys, and ORI for message routing purposes. Alarm transmissions from Vector Security are being delivered to Richmond’s 9-1-1 PSAP efficiently and near instantaneous in less than two seconds. Click here to read the entire story.
Candidate Minimum Training Standard
The candidate standard APCO ANS 3.103.1-200x: Minimum Training Standards for Public Safety Telecommunicator identifies the minimum training requirements for public safety telecommunicators. This position is typically charged with receiving, processing, transmitting, and conveying public safety information to dispatchers, law enforcement officers, fire fighters, emergency medical and emergency management personnel. This document seeks to define training in certain knowledge, skills and abilities to be provided to telecommunicators by the agency.
The third public review and comment period for the candidate standard is Aug. 27–Sept. 26. The public review and comment period pertains to only those sections with proposed changes resulting from the previous review. Please review sections 7.4, 8.2.3, 9.2.3 and 10.2.3 for the proposed changes and submit any comments with suggested resolutions pertaining to those sections only by Sept. 26.
