Rockwell Collins Delivers iForce Integrated Public Safety Vehicle Solution to California Highway Patrol
Cedar Rapids, Iowa — Rockwell Collins is delivering its iForce integrated public safety vehicle solution to the California Highway Patrol as part of the Consolidated Patrol Vehicle Environment program. Rockwell Collins has delivered more than 2,800 systems to date, with over 3,500 systems expected to be delivered by early 2011.
The Rockwell Collins iForce solution features a 13.3-inch touch screen display, voice activation and hand controller that allows control of multiple systems such as radios, sirens, public address, gunlocks and radar. In addition, the integrated solution provides a P25 radio vehicle repeater system to repeat communications from the officer’s handheld radio through the vehicle’s radios when the officer is outside the vehicle.
“This cost-effective solution improves the efficiency and effectiveness of the officer’s mobile work environment,” said Al Caslavka, vice president and general manager of Surface Solutions for Rockwell Collins. “Our integrated public safety vehicle solution will provide officers with an enhanced human interface and the power of information at their fingertips, along with safer operation due to reduced equipment in the vehicle’s passenger compartment.”
