Mobile Keyboard Now Has Adjustable Backlight, Extended Temperature Keys
Austin, Texas — iKey, the world’s leading manufacturer of public safety keyboards, has improved its best-selling FT-88-911-TP mobile keyboard to better meet the challenges associated with in-vehicle computing.
“At iKey, we are always listening to our customers’ feedback and adapting to their needs,” Dave Huddleston, iKey operations manager, said.
While the FT-88-911-TP comes standard with one level of red LED backlighting, customers will now have the option to include six levels of adjustable backlighting on the keyboard in either red or green LEDs.
“When not in use, our mobile customers may not need the brightest level of backlighting,” Huddleston said. “By providing multiple levels, users can dim and illuminate the keys to the level that is most comfortable.”
In addition, iKey also has added extended temperature keys as a standard feature on all FT-88-911-TPs. Ideal for use in extremely hot climates, the extended temperature keys resist warping or melting in temperatures up to 105ºC (221ºF) degrees.
“Many of our customers in states like Texas, California and Arizona reach temperatures in their vehicles over 200º Fahrenheit,” Huddleston said. “A standard mobile keyboard is simply not designed for that type of climate.”
Earlier this year, iKey standardized wear-resistant, laser-etched keys on all FT-88-911-TP units, in addition to an extended temperature touchpad. Other features of the FT-88-911-TP include integrated mounting holes, a one-touch emergency key, and a full-travel keystroke.
