APCO Announces First CALEA Public Safety Communications Accreditation Manager Training Course

APCO International December 1, 2010 APCO, Product & Service Announcements

Dec. 1, 2010, Alexandria, Va.: On Jan. 26, 2011, the APCO Institute will conduct the first CALEA Public Safety Communications Accreditation Manager Training course online. Registration is now open.

This course was developed after recognizing that the success of the accreditation process is dependent upon the skills of the accreditation manager. This online course was developed specifically for the CALEA Public Safety Communications Accreditation Manager. It is divided into eight weeks of intensive learning with agency-specific research assignments that can be applied to the actual Public Safety Communications Accreditation Program process.

By the end of this course the accreditation manager should be able to interpret a standard, read and write a directive that meets compliance, identify and show proofs of compliance, build an ISSR, and have a working knowledge of both the standards and process & programs manuals.

“APCO is pleased to unveil this exciting new course which meets the CALEA training standard,” said APCO president, Bill Carrow. “As a student in the beta course, I feel this training provided me with a much greater understanding of the accreditation process as a whole.”

The overall goal is to prepare the Accreditation Manager to successfully navigate through the accreditation process. It meets Standard 5.2.13 CALEA Public Safety Communications Accreditation Manager training requirement.

This course was developed in partnership between the Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies Inc. (CALEA) and the Association of Public-Safety Communications Officials. “This is yet another example of APCO’s long-standing partnership with CALEA,” Carrow said.
