Prattville, Ala. — The Autauga County Sheriff’s Office is sharing dispatch and records information with the Prattville Police Department using software from Spillman Technologies.

The sheriff’s office has been using Spillman software to share jail data with Prattville since 2004. Using recently added Computer-Aided Dispatch and Records solutions from Spillman, the two agencies can now exchange dispatch information as well as data on suspects and incidents. Autauga County Sheriff Herbie Johnson said the software will be a major benefit to the agency.

“I am pleased with the performance of the software and of Spillman’s services,” he said. Many of the criminals who commit crimes in Prattville live in unincorporated areas of the county, and vice versa, said Autauga County Sheriff’s Office Deputy Sheriff Troy Seamon. The ability to share data will help both agencies track criminals who travel between the jurisdictions, he said. 

“Everybody is on one page with this system, and that will be really great,” he said. The system will also make it easier for the Autauga County Sheriff’s Office to apply for grants, he said. The software allows personnel to quickly calculate the statistics needed to apply for federal grant funding.

“A lot of our grant writing requires statistics on crimes,” Seamon said. “The nice thing about Spillman is that it makes it easy to run all kinds of reports.”

The Autauga County Sheriff’s Office went live with its CAD and records software in early November. The agency is one of 19 agencies in Alabama and more than 900 agencies across the country using Spillman software.
