NICE Opens Nominations for 2011 PSAPs’ Finest Awards
February 11, 2011NICE Systems today announced that nominations for its 2011 PSAPs’ Finest Awards are now open. The awards recognize individuals for their exceptional performance and contributions to the field of Public Safety communications. Each year, winners are selected in four PSAP (Public Safety Answering Point) categories: Director, Line Supervisor, Technician, and Telecommunicator of the year. NICE will announce the winners at APCO 2011 this August.

The rollout of 4G high speed wireless services provides a unique opportunity to deploy such a system. President Obama’s budget calls for a $10.7 billion commitment to support the development and deployment of a nationwide wireless broadband network to afford public safety agencies with far greater levels of effectiveness and interoperability. An important element of this plan is the reallocation of the D Block for public safety and $500 million within the WIN Fund.
