Cassidian Communications Releases Version 1.7 of GeoCast Web Solution

Company Representative March 14, 2011 Product & Service Announcements

Franklin, Tenn., March 10, 2011 — Cassidian Communications (formerly PlantCML), an EADS North America company, and industry leader in mission critical communications, today announced the general availability of version 1.7 of its map-driven emergency notification solution, GeoCast Web. Feature-rich, this adaptation delivers new functionality and greater communications capacity, augmenting the crisis communications efforts of public- and private- sector organizations globally.

“Certain situations drive the need for precisely targeted, multimodal and oftentimes high-volume communication,” said Mike Adams, director of product line management for the Notification Solutions and Services (NSS) business unit of Cassidian Communications. “Our organization was among the first to recognize this growing need, and released the GeoCast Web solution in 2004. The new version builds off this proven platform, combining the latest communication methods and advanced GIS technologies to create the most solid map-driven notification solution available.”

Among the new features of version 1.7 of the GeoCast Web solution is an expanded MassCall option providing high-capacity communications in large-scale events; the addition of SMS and email for notification; and a number of comprehensive, client-requested reports.

By utilizing the MassCall option, Cassidian Communications clients will gain access to a state-of-the-art telecommunications network through which they can easily initiate hundreds of thousands of calls per hour. This option provides customizable Caller ID, allowing calls to originate from a local number to increase the likelihood of recipients answering. It also features automatic compatibility with TTY/TDD devices for communication with hearing-impaired individuals and supports bilingual messaging.

The addition of SMS and email further expand the communications capabilities of Cassidian Communications clients beyond traditional landlines and cell phones. Individuals wanting to receive alerts in either or both of these ways can simply register online using the optional Self-Registration Portal for the GeoCast Web solution. The portal seamlessly integrates with a client’s existing website, allowing registrants to provide contact information and notification preferences (e.g., emergency, non-emergencies, etc.).

Utilized by hundreds of mission critical operations, including law enforcement, emergency management and public utilities, the widely deployed GeoCast Web solution enables immediate, map-driven communication within precisely targeted geographies. Proven uses include wildfire and hurricane evacuations, water contamination and public health risks such as H1N1 and the Triple E virus.

The GeoCast Web solution complements the list-based notification capabilities of The Communicator! NXT solution, also developed and supported by Cassidian Communications. Clients seeking an upgrade to version 1.7 may visit the NSS Technical Support site at support.CassidianCommunications.com to make the necessary arrangements.
