In Motion Technology extends onBoardTM Product Family with Secure IP Mobility
Vancouver, BC, June 1, 2011 – In Motion Technology, the leader in mobile networking technologies that efficiently connect and manage equipment, information and people in the field, today announced the launch of onBoard™ Connection Manager (oCM), a mobile-optimized security appliance, providing secure IP mobility and sub-second switching in a multi-network environment.
Today’s workforce is highly mobile, equipped with an increasing number of devices and applications, and changes networks as the environment dictates. Designed to work with the company’s onBoard™ Mobile Gateway, oCM simply and securely extends the enterprise IP network to the “Vehicle Area Network”. Along with the onBoard™ Mobility Manager which sets overall operations policy for the Gateways and provides a unified health and performance dashboard for the IT team, oCM provides the most powerful way of securing and managing traffic between the vehicle area network and the enterprise network over multiple wireless networks. This enables all devices and applications to communicate securely without adding additional client software to every device.
Based on Mobile Internet Key Exchange (MOBIKE) standards from the Internet Engineering Taskforce (IETF), oCM eliminates session interruptions when secure IP traffic is switched from one wireless network to another. This “session continuity” is critical for mission critical streaming IP-based voice and video applications, such as mobile video collaboration, video virtual back-up at traffic stops, instantaneous situational awareness on transit vehicles, voice over IP based push to talk and mobile telemedicine.
“The introduction of oCM is a key milestone in our vision of ensuring mission critical mobile workforces have flexible, upgradable communications platforms that enable them to quickly and easily leverage the best available wireless network particularly in multi-network environments.” said Larry LeBlanc, In Motion Technology’s chief technology officer and founder. “Today, work force productivity is increasingly defined by simple, cost effective access to the right information at the right time, including collaboration with the right team members via voice and video in real time. We view the oCM as a critical component to bringing this experience to the mobile workforce.”
