Milford, Conn. — A police dispatcher helped lead officers to the identity of a 23-year-old Shelton man Saturday, who allegedly held his girlfriend against her will, police said.
Police said they received a complaint of a disturbance at a hotel in the area of Old Gate Lane. The state police originally received the call from an open cellphone line and could hear a male named Brian and female arguing.
A Milford police dispatcher continued to monitor the line and could hear some type of physical altercation taking place, and that a female was attempting to leave but was not being allowed to, police said.
Police began checking area hotels and located the disturbance at 278 Old Gate Lane.
The investigation revealed that Brian Gittings and his companion were arguing. Gittings allegedly grabbed the woman by the arms and would not allow her to leave.
Gittings was charged with disorderly conduct and unlawful restraint. He was held in lieu of $10,000 bail.
