Armstrong County officials secured the first of four sites where new radio towers will be built to upgrade the county’s emergency communications system.
On Thursday, county commissioners approved a lease with a private landowner in Sugarcreek. The 99-year agreement calls for the county to pay a one-time fee of $25,000 rather than make annual payments.
“We thought that would be in the best interest of the taxpayers,” said Commissioner Patty Kirkpatrick.
The lease will be paid through a $15 million bond.
