Police Track Down Tot Who Called 9-1-1 about 150 Times in Three Days

LESA CERT Works Tacoma Mall Active Shooter Exercise

September 28, 2011

On August 12th, members of LESA Communication’s Emergency Response Team (CERT) manned the radios for a full scale active shooter exercise held by TPD at the Tacoma Mall. This exercise allowed officers, SWAT, hostage negotiations, bomb techs and rescue units the opportunity to test their skills and equipment. Three tactically trained dispatchers reported to the Mobile Command Unit (MCU) in the mall’s parking lot and ran exercise communications.

Lancaster to Join Regional Dispatch Center

A proposed regional police dispatch center now has the support it needs to move forward after the third of five towns initially asked to join has signed on to the project. The dispatch center will include Harvard, Devens, Lunenburg, Lancaster and Shirley and will mean a savings of more than $100,000 for each community after the first year.

City of Houston Selects Firetide to Build One of the Highest Performance Mesh Networks for Public Safety in the Nation

Los Gatos, CA — September 20, 2011 – The city of Houston has deployed Firetide’s high-performance wireless mesh network as part of a Homeland Security-funded initiative to improve public safety in the downtown area. The network is a communications foundation that connects IP video cameras, located at 134 traffic intersections, allowing first responders in Houston to centrally monitor activity in the downtown area from a command center 24 x 7. With the ability to view live video feeds, it provides more virtual eyes on the streets and enables faster dispatch of officers where and when they are needed. Video feeds are also stored and can be used as effective evidence in court, reducing time and expense for prosecuting cases, saving taxpayer dollars.
