The Gazette

A Colorado Springs police dispatcher pleaded not guilty Tuesday to charges that she tried to steal a pickup and the hot dog cart it was towing.

Kayla Hogan, 28, was charged with attempted aggravated motor vehicle theft after the July 26 incident outside the Copperhead Road Bar, 3330 N. Academy Blvd. Police say Hogan pinched the hot dog vendor and twice punched a bar bouncer who came to his aid.

She allegedly told the men she was “commandeering” the vehicle as part of a pursuit.

Hogan, the subject of six internal police investigations in just more than six years, is on paid leave. She faces a Nov. 29 trial.
