Multiple Colorado Agencies Will Use Spillman to Share Data, Increase Efficiency
Steamboat Springs, COLO. – Oct. 4, 2011 – Multiple public safety agencies in Routt County, Colorado are adopting a Spillman system that will allow them to share data and maximize their resources.
The Routt County Sheriff’s Office, the Routt County Communications Center, and the Steamboat Springs Police Department will share data on a single server hosted by the Routt County Sheriff’s Office. Steamboat Springs Fire and Rescue, North Route Fire Protection District, West Route Fire Protection District, Oak Creek Fire Protection District, and Route County Search and Rescue will also utilize the system.
The agencies adopted Spillman’s Mobile solution. Using the Mobile AVL Mapping module, dispatchers will be able to view the locations of all active units on an electronic map, said Routt County Sheriff Garrett Wiggins.
The software will enable dispatchers to quickly dispatch the deputy closest to an incident, he said, a critical feature for the Routt County Sheriff’s Office, which relies on a staff of 15 patrol deputies to cover the more than 2,200-square mile jurisdiction.
“We have a large area to cover with minimal people,” Wiggins said. “When a call for service is received, dispatchers will be able to know where the sheriff’s units are. Instead of sending someone from one end of the county to the other, they’ll be more able to efficiently dispatch units to an incident.”
Steamboat Springs Police Chief J.D. Hays said that the agencies chose Spillman after a lengthy research and RFP process.
“Spillman’s years of experience, hundreds of customers, as well as their reputation for support and availability of software upgrades at no additional cost were just some of reasons we chose them as our vendor,” Hays said.
When the Routt County agencies go live with their Spillman system in March 2012, they will join 46 agencies in Colorado and more than 950 public safety agencies across the nation using Spillman software.
