Denise Amber Lee Foundation Director Nominated for NG9-1-1 Institute Board Position

ENGLEWOOD, FL (October 5, 2011) – The Denise Amber Lee Foundation today announced that Director, David Garofalo, Sr has been nominated to serve a two year term with the NG911 Institute in Washington, DC.  David has been nominated for the  “Public Safety Membership At-Large” position.   Voting takes place on line beginning October 21st through November 7th.  You must be a member to vote but anyone concerned about improving the 9-1-1 system can join the NG911 Institute anytime at http://www.e911institute.org/joinUs/index.html.

“David is a perfect candidate for this position” said Nathan Lee, founder and president of the Denise Amber Lee Foundation.  “In his positions as Fire Captain in Pasco County Florida, City Commissioner of North Port, Florida, National League of Cities Public Safety Steering Committee member and founding board member of our foundation, David has dedicated his life to public safety and improving the 9-1-1 system specifically.”

Several Florida legislators are members of the E911 Congressional Caucus including local US Representative, Vern Buchanan.

About the E911 Institute

Executive Director, Gregory Rohde, explains; “The mission of the NG911 Institute, simply put, is to support the Congressional NG9-1-1 Caucus and assist it in promoting public education on NG9-1-1 and emergency communications issues.  Specifically, the Institute serves as an information clearinghouse for policy makers at federal, state, and local levels, as well as for interested parties and the general public.  Our organization also serves as a forum for policy discussions that will benefit public policy development.”

The NG9-1-1 Institute also provides informational and administrative support to members of the Congressional caucus as they pursue their mission of improving and strengthening 9-1-1 and emergency communications

About the E911 Congressional Caucus

The Congressional E9-1-1 Caucus was formed on February 25, 2003 as a joint initiative of its four co-chairs, Senators Conrad Burns (R-MT) and Hillary Clinton (D-NY) and Reps. John Shimkus (R-IL) and Anna Eshoo (D-CA) to educate lawmakers, constituents and communities about the importance of citizen-activated emergency response systems.

Representatives John Shimkus (R-IL) and Anna Eshoo (D-CA) and Senators Amy Klobuchar (D-MN) and Richard Burr (R-NC) continue their strong leadership of the NextGen 9-1-1 Caucus. On Februrary 16, 2011, the Caucus was registered as a Congressional Member Organization for the 112th Congress and will serve as an informal group of Members dedicated to issues related to NextGen 9-1-1 emergency services and educating other Members of Congress on this subject.
