Intrado Introduces THOR Shield

Company Representative October 18, 2011 Product & Service Announcements

LONGMONT, Colo., Oct. 18, 2011 — Intrado Inc., a subsidiary of West Corporation and a leading provider of 9-1-1 technology solutions, today announced the launch of THOR Shieldsm, a first-of-its-kind mobile emergency communications program.

The THOR Shield program includes a two-story, 80-foot-long mobile public safety answering point (PSAP) that offers public safety, homeland security and other agencies full-scale, rapid response capabilities. Equipped with the most advanced public safety technologies available, THOR Shield offers strategic incident pre-planning, professional on-site deployment, technical expertise, logistics support and 9-1-1 communications technologies to agencies of any size and budget.

Available today, THOR Shield combines Intrado’s extensive public safety engineering experience with technical and logistics experts that enable 9-1-1 centers to remain focused on serving the community.   THOR Shield offers the same levels of reliability and sustainability found in fixed PSAPs. It can be deployed in as few as four hours to keep emergency communications operational under challenging circumstances.

“When a public safety agency declares an incident, the THOR Shield team responds with telephone and radio infrastructure, configured to the agency’s needs, and providing access to CAD technology and data repositories, all backed up remotely in hardened facilities with broadband satellite access,” said Brian Davenport, vice president and THOR Shield program director for Intrado.

THOR Shield can be utilized in any situation that places a strain on emergency operations.  For two weeks in August, Union County , North Carolina deployed THOR Shield to receive 9-1-1 calls and dispatch appropriate agencies while the county’s regular 9-1-1 center was temporarily out of service.  “Without a back-up center readily available, THOR Shield was the perfect alternative,” said Larry Brinker, director of Union County Emergency Communications. “THOR Shield performed flawlessly and was a great asset for Union County .”

THOR Shield features a wide range of flexible ownership options.  Agencies interested in learning more about the Intrado THOR Shield public safety program are encouraged to contact Intrado today at info@intrado.comor 1-855-846-7911.
