APCO International Technology Roundtables Back in 2012

Company Representative November 17, 2011 Product & Service Announcements

DAYTONA BEACH, FL—October 31, 2011— The Association of Public-Safety Communications Officials (APCO) International announced it will hold two Technology Roundtables in 2012 after a successful first year of events in 2011.

The two 2012 Technology Roundtables are set for March 28 in Anaheim, Ca. and October 10 in Orlando, Fl.

APCO’s Roundtables were held once in February, March, April and May 2011 in four different locations across the US and were well-received by attendees.

2011 Roundtable participant, John Lenihan of the Los Angeles County Fire Dept., said the Roundtable is “a place where experts in their respective fields can learn and share in a focused, intimate setting without the hustle and bustle of the traditional one hour lecture.”

APCO’s Technology Roundtables offer distinct features by limiting participation to 15 and sharing strategies and discussing solutions for current challenges. APCO facilitates conversations between public safety information and communications technology (ICT) professionals including managers, directors and supervisors.

“What makes these events so unique is that they are highly customized based on the participants and current industry issues,” explained Lisa C. Williams, APCO’s director of events & corporate outreach. “The discussion in March will definitely be different than the discussion in October.”

Roundtable events emphasize a highly specialized area of public-safety communications for public safety ICT executives such as cyber-security and data security, ADA requirements for changing technology, CAD-to-CAD exchanges, PSAP consolidation, and Advanced Automatic Crash Notification Technology.

Richard Granado, County of Los Angeles, described the Roundtable as “a great forum for the exchange of current and emerging technology as well as the funding issues related to the implementation and maintenance of these systems.”

“This concentrated area of public safety is shifting everyday and it’s hard but necessary, to keep up. The Roundtable focuses on ICT issues to help inform and direct these professionals so they can bring practices back to their agencies,” said Williams.
