Cooper Notification Introduces RSAN Health Alert Network to Meet the CDC’s Public Health Information Network 2.0 Requirements
LONG BRANCH, N.J., January 11, 2012 – Cooper Notification, a leading supplier of Life Safety and Mass Notification System (MNS) solutions, introduced today the latest solution of its award-winning Roam Secure Alert NetworkTM (RSANTM), RSAN Health Alert Network (HAN). RSAN HAN was developed to meet the interoperable notification needs of public health agencies and comply with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s (CDC) Public Health Information Network (PHIN) 2.0 requirements for Cascade Alerting. Cooper Notification is a solution platform of Cooper Industries plc (NYSE: CBE), a global provider of electrical solutions.
Facilitating the flow of critical information among public health officials and healthcare professionals, RSAN HAN provides a secure method for sharing in real-time health alerts, response plans, disease incidents and prevention guidelines with other agencies and organizations. Messages can be sent from anywhere – a web browser or mobile device, including RSAN Mobile applications.
To meet the mandated Cascade Alerting requirements of PHIN 2.0, RSAN HAN allows public health officials to issue alerts to recipients in another jurisdiction by means of a system-to-system message. Instead of sending a message directly to health officials, first responders or other organizations in another jurisdiction, the message is sent to the receiving jurisdiction’s alerting system through the CDC PHIN Exchange. The PHIN Exchange processes and distributes the alerts to authorized users within the agencies’ jurisdiction.
“To support the PHIN initiative for nation-wide interoperable information systems, RSAN HAN was designed to help public health agencies become PHIN 2.0 compliant,” said Scott Hearn, President, Cooper Notification. “As a leader in secure information sharing for such customers as the National Capitol Region and Southeastern Pennsylvania, Cooper Notification provides reliable two-way communications to instantly connect health officials, first responders and medical professionals – anytime, anywhere.”
