Candidate Standard: APCO ANS 3.104.1-201x: Core Competencies and Minimum Training Standards for Public Safety Communications Training Coordinator
APCO is now seeking comments on the draft Core Competencies and Minimum Training Standards for Public Safety Communications Training Coordinator. Candidate APCO ANS 3.104.1-201x focuses on competencies and training for a position typically tasked with the planning, development, coordination, implementation, and administration of training within an Agency. The Public Safety Communications Training Coordinator provides training and guidance to employees in order to achieve the Agency’s mission, while providing service to the public and emergency responders. This standard refers to the function of the position commonly titled “Training Coordinator;” however, agencies may title the position differently. The purpose of this standard is to provide a consistent foundation for the knowledge, skills, and abilities needed to fulfill this critical function.
Scope: This standard identifies the core competencies and minimum training requirements for Public Safety Communications Training Coordinators. This position is typically tasked with the planning, development, coordination, implementation, and administration of training within the Agency.
Purpose: To define the core competencies and minimum training requirements of all personnel assigned to facilitate a training program within the Agency. The purpose of this standard is to provide a consistent foundation for the knowledge, skills, and abilities needed to fulfill this critical function. This standard recognizes the need to supplement the training and core competencies identified within this standard with Agency specific information.
