Power Outage Disrupts Phone Service in Philly Suburbs
The Philadelphia Inquirer
A power outage at a Verizon facility in Wayne today knocked out telephone and Internet service to customers in Chester, Delaware and Montgomery Counties.
Lee Gierczynski, a Verizon spokesman, said the number of customers affected by the 10:20 a.m. power outage is not yet known.
Circut breakers at the facility were tripped resulting in a power loss. Technicians do not yet know the cause, he said.
Gierczynski said power was restored to the facility about an hour later, but rebooting phone and Internet service to all customers could take until 5 p.m.
Delaware County issued an alert saying the outage was affecting 911 calls, but not its public safety radio.
Gierczynski said towns in the outage area included Wayne, West Chester, Paoli and Bryn Mawr.
