APCO Partners with DHS/NCC to Support National Disaster Response
Alexandria, Va. – The Association of Public-Safety Communications Officials (APCO) International announced its partnership with the National Coordinating Center (NCC), a program of the United States Department of Homeland Security (DHS), responsible for coordinating disaster response and recovery efforts involving the telecommunications industry.
APCO International has forwarded to affected parties the latest Situation Report from the NCC on Tropical Storm Isaac. APCO sits on daily disaster communications coordination calls and is feeding information to and from affected states through its Executive Council, which consists of one member from each chapter, thus mirroring how it gains chapter level perspectives on association activities.
“We recognize that there are varying response systems in place in each state and region, but this is an extra means that we hope over time will help to provide a national level conduit to support members affected by disasters, such as Hurricane Isaac,” said APCO President Terry Hall.
