APCO International President & 1st Vice President Meet with ICMA President
APCO International President Terry Hall and First Vice President Gigi Smith met with Bonni Svrcek, president of the International City/County Management Association (ICMA) in Lynchburg, Va., last week, on Oct. 23.
The meeting was facilitated by APCO Past President Nate McClure, and the associations’ leaders discussed partnership opportunities and important issues concerning FirstNet and the Nationwide Broadband Network for Public Safety, among other topics. “Both associations understand the network is being built with emerging technology, and it’s not going to happen overnight,” said Hall.
“We’re looking for ways we can work together for the mutual good of our members,” said Hall. “We let them know that APCO has subject matter experts in NG9-1-1 and broadband that ICMA can tap as educational resources.”
According to Hall, Svrcek really liked the fact that APCO had reached out to ICMA and that relationships and partnerships are very important to their association.
Hall said, “The associations have worked together on various committees but this is the first time the leaders have met just to focus on issues of mutual importance to them. We’re going to continue to work together.”
