U.S. Capital Implements ASAP

APCO International December 21, 2012 APCO, Industry, Product & Service Announcements

Washington, D.C.,’s Office of Unified Communications (OUC) has gone live with the Automated Secure Alarm Protocol (ASAP) program, becoming the second largest PSAP to implement ASAP. The OUC ASAP launch follows similar implementations throughout the country, including York County, Va., the city of Richmond, Va., the city of Houston, Texas, and others. This is the second ASAP implementation for Intergraph, the OUC’s CAD provider.

On Oct. 26, 2012, Pittsburgh-based Vector Security began transmitting police, fire and medical alarm notifications directly to the OUC’s CAD system. It is planned that two more alarm companies will be online during the first quarter of 2013, with more joining the program during the remainder of calendar year 2013. Collectively, these alarm companies account for more than 55,000 alarm notifications annually to the OUC. More than 6,500 alarm-related data transmissions between the OUC and the participating alarm companies have already been processed.
