APCO Congratulates Senator Jay Rockefeller on His Retirement
Alexandria, VA – Today, West Virginia Senator Jay Rockefeller announced that he would not seek reelection in 2014. Senator Rockefeller, who serves as the Chairman of the Senate Commerce, Science and Transportation Committee, has been an active and vocal proponent of issues important to public safety. Most recently, Senator Rockefeller was a significant force in the enactment of the public safety broadband provisions of the Middle Class Tax Relief and Job Creation Act of 2012.
“Senator Rockefeller’s strong commitment and support was absolutely essential in successful passage of this key legislation for public safety,” said APCO President Terry Hall. Hall added “while we look forward to working with Senator Rockefeller through the rest of his current term, it was important to us to recognize Senator Rockefeller’s contributions in light of his announcement, and congratulate and wish him the very best.”
