Datron World Communications Announces Strategic Leadership Change with Kevin J. Kane Joining as President and CEO

Company Representative April 1, 2013 Product & Service Announcements

Datron World Communications, Inc. (www.dtwc.com), a leader in tactical and public safety communications products, today announced Kevin Kane as President and CEO. Kane will take over for Art Barter, owner of Transnortad Inc., the parent company of Datron World Communications. Barter will remain Chairman of Datron while focusing on the leadership and growth of the Servant Leadership Institute, a Transnortad company. Barter served as the President and CEO of Datron since his purchase of the company from Titan Corporation in 2004, and led the firm to unprecedented growth worldwide.

“I am delighted to welcome Kevin to Datron. Over the course of his career he has proven himself to be a strong leader with a talent for building great teams while formulating and achieving strategic objectives,” stated Barter. “Under his guidance, Datron will continue to design, manufacture and sell products that provide the performance and value that our customers require and expect.”

Kane brings over 25 years of operational and management experience in the tactical communications and land mobile radio industry, holding key roles in sales and business development, strategic planning, and general management. Prior to joining Datron, Kane served as the President of the Radio Communications Division of Codan Limited in Adelaide, Australia. During his time at Codan, Kane led the implementation of a new strategic direction for its radio business, oversaw the re-development of Codan’s primary product line, and successfully executed a key adjacent market acquisition.  Before joining Codan, Kane worked for Harris Corporation, RF Communications Division, for more than 20 years, holding roles in domestic and international sales, strategy and business development, program management and engineering. Kane holds a BS degree in Computer Engineering from the Rochester Institute of Technology, and an MBA in Finance from Saint John Fisher College, Bittner School of Business.

“I am humbled by the opportunity to join the Datron team,” said Kane. “I look forward to leading the Datron team as we pursue our strategic vision and continue to make a difference in the lives of our customers, Employees and charitable organizations.”

Barter added, “I want to thank our Employees. They have supported me and the company and generated the results which have allowed Datron to positively impact the lives of others through our charitable giving. I trust that they will provide Kevin the same support. I am very proud of all that we have accomplished at Datron over the last ten years. This change will allow me the opportunity to focus on the key priorities of the Datron family of companies including the Servant Leadership Institute.”

Under Barter’s leadership Datron has undergone a significant cultural transformation to a servant led organization. Barter will focus on the strategic direction of Transnortad Inc., the holding company for the seven corporations that currently make up the Datron family. In addition he will become President and CEO of the Servant Leadership Institute replacing Tony Baron who resigned in January 2013. Barter currently sits on three outside Boards representing companies in which Transnortad Inc. has made significant investments.
