Collaboration Without Consolidation: Building a PSAP of PSAPs

Public Safety Communications May 31, 2013 Operations
Event Date: 06/12/2013 01:00 PM Eastern Standard Time Register Today!
Description
The Goal:Build a “PSAP of PSAPs” that would:Avtec_ProductConsole

  • Enable complete access to communication resources
  • Provide automatic failover and redundancy among counties
  • Support freedom to choose peripheral devices, such as portables, mobiles and dispatch consoles, across a multi-county footprint.

Case Study:

Bonneville County, Idaho, and three neighboring counties, have cooperatively deployed an open-standard P25 digital radio solution.

Learn how Bonneville County leveraged a common P25 system over a shared IP network, deploying an open standard, P25 CSSI-compliant console system to deliver integrated resource access, and improve disaster planning and multi-agency interoperability across four counties.

What You Will Learn:

  • How the counties shared resources to provide mutual aid and backup support during emergencies, creating a PSAP within a PSAP.
  • How Bonneville is creating its own emergency services IP network (ESInet) to deliver voice, video, text and data “calls” to the PSAP.
  • How the full-function exchange capability for dispatch allows them to prepare for a situation in a neighboring county that could soon impact them through access to other radio channels (e.g., a car chase).

By installing standards-compliant equipment, the communications personnel in the participating counties have established full-function exchange capability and full redundancy. They are living the concept of mutual support.
