Antenna Alignment Solutions Reduce Site Re-visits and Re-climbs and Optimize Network Performance
Orlando, FL – A Sunsight Instruments announces that proper antenna alignment solutions, such as its AntennAlign Alignment Tool (AAT) and AntennAware Attitude Sensor (AAS), can significantly reduce tower re-climbs and re-visits that cost general contractors and service providers thousands of dollars per site. Additionally, the proper antenna alignment solutions can optimize network performance to maximize the multi-billion dollar investment made on 4G LTE networks by helping ensure networks operate to designed capacity.
“Nearly half of all sites have a tower that is misaligned. Correcting a site is nearly $5,000 for the general contractor, when you consider the cost to send a three-person crew to the existing site rather than to install a new tower. Carriers lose approximately $4,700 per site due to misalignment. Using the Sunsight AAT and AAS, these expensive site re-visits and re-climbs can be significantly reduced,” said Tony Wattwood, CEO of Sunsight Instruments.
The AAT and AAS from Sunsight can also help ensure that towers operate to their original RF design to maximize network performance. The result is improved carrier to interference plus noise ratio (CINR) for faster data throughput and better overall network coverage. This improves KPIs for greater data and voice usage, as well as creates a better customer experience to reduce churn.
The Sunsight AAT integrates accelerometers, a two-GPS system, and laser range finding to take precise antenna measurements. Real-time accurate azimuth measurements up to +/-0.3° RMS and +/-1.0° R99, and downtilt and roll captures to an accuracy of +/-0.25° are made with the AAT. Designed with a durable powder-coated aluminum housing, a precision billet aluminum mounting system, and internal shock mitigation, the AAT is resistant to the elements, as well as rough handling.
Using advanced alignment techniques, the Sunsight AAS tracks latitude, longitude, and sun measurements to measure azimuth to +/-1.0° accuracy and has highly sensitive accelerometers to measure downtilt and real-time antenna “plumb” to +/-0.25° accuracy. For applications requiring real-time monitoring of antenna tilt and roll, Sunsight has developed the Antenna Attitude Sensor Lite (AASL), which offers excellent performance and high durability in environments that require up-to-the-minute data updates.
