Florida Man Misuses 9-1-1

External News Source July 15, 2013 Industry

Naples Daily News (Florida)

A Golden Gate man is accused of abusing 9-1-1 after Collier County deputies were unable to sort out his story about his neighbors dealing drugs and an unspecified deputy he called a racial pejorative.

A deputy who responded to William Joseph Barrett’s house around 10:30 p.m. said Barrett, 49, was clasping a can of beer and seemed “heavily intoxicated.” Barrett then ranted about a “(n-word) deputy” who left his home unsecure, causing items to be stolen, according to an arrest report.

Barrett “was unable to provide specifics as to when the incident occurred,” the deputy reported.

He also mentioned something about his neighbors “running ‘drugs’ and ‘whores’ out of their apartment,” according to the report.

Barrett faces a misdemeanor charge of misuse of the 9-1-1 system.
