NICE Systems Earns Gold-Level Logging Recorder Interoperability Certification from Avtec, Inc.
Lexington, S.C. (August 14, 2013) – Avtec Inc., manufacturer of the Scout™ VoIP communication console system used by the public safety, transportation, utility, government and business industries, has added NICE Systems to its growing list of certified call recorder system partners. NICE earned a gold-level certification designation by passing interoperability testing with Avtec’s Scout™ 3.0 VoIP console system. Tests were conducted at Avtec’s advanced testing and training facility in Lexington, S.C.
Call recording technology is essential in dispatch environments because it allows incident reconstruction and investigation analysis from a variety of voice communication resources. Integrating call recording technology with the Scout VoIP console provides public safety answering points (PSAP) with the foundation to meet Next Generation (NG)-911 initiatives. As part of Avtec’s assessment program, call recorder vendors are evaluated on a set of stringent criteria. Applicants can earn one of three designations—bronze, silver or gold—that reflects corresponding levels of investment and capability. To earn gold-level certification, vendors must demonstrate proficiency in the capture, tagging and retrieval of voice traffic both on a per console and per endpoint basis. Additionally, they are required to create and maintain documentation regarding configuration, capability and software version.
Other call recorder systems certified by Scout include Eventide, EXACOM, HigherGround, VoicePrint International (VPI) and Verint.
“Mission-critical applications need assurance that all components will work together seamlessly,” said Avtec’s vice president of product development Kevin Williams. “Scout delivers the functionality of a traditional console system combined with the flexibility and portability of a distributed network. It supports more IP radio system interfaces and works with leading logging recorder providers so that customers can have confidence when installing these systems in their public safety answering points (PSAPs). We are pleased to add NICE Systems to this growing list.”
