Test Solutions for P25 and P25 Phase 2 Systems to be Showcased by Anritsu Company at APCO 2013

Agency Representative August 16, 2013 Product & Service Announcements

Richardson, TX – August 15, 2013 – Anritsu Company (booth #400) will display its test instrument portfolio that measures key parameters of Land Mobile Radio (LMR) and public safety networks at APCO 2013, to be held in Anaheim, CA, August 18-21. The test solutions on display include instruments that can be used by public safety receiver manufacturers to validate performance in light of harm claim threshold regulations, as well as handheld analyzers so field engineers and technicians can ensure the installation and maintenance of first responder networks, including APCO P25 systems.

“As public safety agencies convert legacy networks to P25, there are a host of technical challenges that must be addressed. Additionally, these mission critical networks must operate in an ever-crowded spectrum, all of which places a premium on test solutions. Anritsu has been involved in the P25 standard since its inception and our commitment to public safety will be on display at APCO 2013, as we will showcase test solutions that help ensure the successful operation of these vital networks,” said Wade Hulon, General Manager and Vice President of Anritsu Company.

The LMR Master S412E was specifically developed for field engineers and technicians installing and maintaining public safety networks. It is the only handheld analyzer with P25 Phase 2 (TDMA) signal analysis and onboard coverage analysis capability, making the LMR Master S412E a single-instrument solution for both P25 FDMA and TDMA systems. LMR Master is also the only handheld analyzer that offers onboard coverage mapping for RSSI, SINAD, and THD as a standard feature. Coverage mapping before and after converting legacy networks to P25 or other narrowband standards helps ensure there are no unintended coverage gaps in the migrated systems.

The ever-crowding RF spectrum and harm claim thresholds place greater responsibility on radio manufacturers to ensure product compliance. The MS2830A Spectrum Analyzer/Signal Analyzer offers best-in-class phase noise and level accuracy, which provide the necessary margin for the most demanding narrowband ACLR measurements. In addition, the MS2830A has a unique integrated vector signal generation and BER measurement capability, making it a one-box solution for many P25 receiver and transmitter tests. Capture/Replay functionality enables the user to debug and validate receiver performance in extreme interference environments by recreating recorded real-world signals under controlled laboratory conditions.

The MG3740A Narrowband Digital Signal Generator can simultaneously produce up to four independently modulated signals and is a cost-effective complement to the MS2830A. Together, the instruments enable the full gamut of required P25 receiver tests, including spurious response rejection, intermodulation rejection, and blocking.

Anritsu will display additional handheld instruments designed for optimizing public safety systems, as well. For installing and maintaining network backhaul, Anritsu will show field optical test solutions, including the MT9083A2 ACCESS Master™ and MT9090 Network Master™. Anritsu’s industry leading Site Master™ cable and antenna analyzers, and Spectrum Master™ MS2720T handheld spectrum analyzer will also be in the booth.
