Calif. Man Accused of Making Threatening 9-1-1 Calls

Ventura County Star (California)

A 44-year-old Ventura man was arrested Tuesday on suspicion of making harassing calls to 911 and committing felony vandalism, officials said.

Officers responded about 9:30 a.m. Tuesday to the 5900 block of Eighth Street after a man in the area continually called the Ventura Police Command Center for about two hours with threatening, harassing messages, Ventura police said.

Officers were unable to find the man, identified as Ronald Dockery, authorities said.

Several hours later, police responded to reports of a vehicle being vandalized in the same area. Neighbors reported a man was throwing rocks at their homes and causing damage, police said. Police believed Dockery was involved in the incidents but were again unable to find him, officials said.

A female driver saw Dockery about 8:15 p.m. near Alameda Avenue and Eighth Street, authorities said. The woman apparently heard a rock strike her vehicle, and as she was attempting to flee, she saw Dockery throwing another large rock that almost struck her, police said.

Officers responded again, this time contacting Dockery. Authorities said Dockery resisted arrest, leading officers to use a K-9 to subdue him.

Dockery was arrested on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon, felony vandalism, throwing projectiles at a vehicle and misuse of 911, police said. He was taken to Ventura County Medical Center, where he was treated for moderate injuries, officials said.
