Public Safety Communications Hot Products Selection Process

Public Safety Communications November 5, 2013 APCO

For the past six years, APCO International’s magazine, Public Safety Communications, has published its list of “Hot Products.”  Hot Products is a showcase of the new and innovative products on display at APCO International’s Annual Conference & Expo.

This year, 52 companies submitted 69 products.  These products were reviewed by an anonymous team of experts on the tradeshow floor during APCO’s Conference in Anaheim, Calif. The reviews were compiled and discussed, and the editorial board narrowed down the field to the top 25 products to be featured in the November issue.

While our reviewers certainly have some great things to say about the products featured, this should in no way be construed as an endorsement by APCO International. Additionally, the “Hot Products” designation does not necessarily mean that these products are better than any other on the market. Recent email announcements distributed by certain vendors have been misleading in this regard, and APCO is taking steps to remedy the misinformation and prevent any further confusion.

The Hot Products issue is a great way for those who were unable to attend the conference to see what they may have missed. Our reviewers and editors look for substantial improvements over previous releases, products that meet a newly identified need and features that improve the safety and health of telecommunicators and field personnel.

If you have further questions regarding the editorial selection process, please contact managing editor Kristina Ackermann at 858-638-2607 or kristinaa@pennwell.com.
