Cassidian Communications Completes System Acceptance at Westminster, Colo. for P25 Digital Land Mobile Radio System

Agency Representative December 16, 2013 Product & Service Announcements

Richardson, Texas, December 16, 2013 – Today, Cassidian Communications, an EADS North America company, announced acceptance of its CORP25 digital, trunked P25 Land Mobile Radio (LMR) system by the City of Westminster, Colo. The new two-site, 10-channel 800MHz CORP25 radio network—which included hardware, software, system engineering, installation and maintenance—delivers improved coverage and increased capacity for the city of Westminster’s first responders.

In 2013, Westminster was named for a record 11th time as one of the nation’s most digitally savvy cities by the Center for Digital Government. Now through the CORP25 network, the city’s police and fire agencies have the secure, reliable radio communication needed to maintain the Westminster’s reputation as a quality place to live and work. The open, standards-compliant network allows personnel from those agencies to communicate with each other, as well as with responders on other P25 networks in nearby municipalities.

“The city of Westminster wanted a non-proprietary radio system that would allow it to use competitive procurements to provide first responders with the right communications equipment at the right price,” said Russ Bowers, Public Safety Communications Administrator for the city of Westminster. “The CORP25 system delivered the flexibility we needed to create a best-in-class network.”

“With the adoption of the new CORP25 network, the city of Westminster reinforces its reputation for both technology innovation and leadership in government,” said Rich Cagle, vice president of sales, Cassidian Communications Land Mobile Radio division. “Unbundling its radio network procurement allowed Westminster to implement a multi-vendor solution that reduced its overall cost of ownership while keeping the city on the front edge of mission-critical communications.”

Cassidian Communications continues to serve clients ranging from public safety operations to Fortune 1000 corporations to Federal agencies. The company has more than 40 years of experience deploying 9-1-1- call processing systems, emergency notification solutions and first-responder digital trunked radio networks.
