NIJ Issues Call for UHS-Compatible Public Safety Apps

The National Institute of Justice (NIJ), in conjunction with the National Science Foundation (NSF) and White House Office of Science and Technology Policy (OSTP), seeks to promote the development and evaluation of criminal justice software applications that are compatible with ultra high-speed (UHS) networks of 100Mbps symmetrical up to 1Gbps symmetrical.

The NIJ Challenge is a call to design and create UHS-compatible apps that “measurably improve the efficiency and/or effectiveness of criminal justice and public safety services and operation.” The challenge comes at a time when expansion of UHS networks offers increased opportunity for the development of disruptive criminal justice apps.

The challenge submission period runs through Feb. 14, and the first prize winner receives $75,000.  For more information on how to enter, visit:
