Susan Jackson, 1962-2014

Susan R. Jackson, 51, passed away in Destin, FL on Feb. 9, 2014, after a six-year struggle with pancreatic cancer. Susan died in her winter retreat with her family at her side.

She was born in Dursley, England, on May 3, 1962, and immigrated to the United States as a child. Sue grew up in Garden Prairie, IL and became a citizen in 1977. After graduating from Belvidere High School and attending Northern Illinois University in DeKalb, Illinois, she embarked on a career in public safety that included being a dispatcher for the Lake Forest Police Department, a trainer for Integrated Computer Concepts, Inc. CAD (ICCI), director of QuadCom 9-1-1, a multi-agency dispatch center in northern Kane County, and a pre-sale business manager for Motorola, Inc.

Susan was a member of the Illinois Chapter of APCO and the Illinois Chapter of NENA and while at Motorola was a member of the Employee Leadership Council earning a Master’s Certificate in Project Management from the George Washington University School of Business and Public Management.

Sue is survived by her loving husband of 12 years, Curt Carver, her father and stepmother, Meryl and Barbara Jackson and her sister Angela Ottinger. She was preceded in death by her mother, Natalie Brown Jackson.

Sue was an incredibly strong, loving, warm and sometimes stubborn individual, who will be missed dearly by those who knew her.
