Thurston County (Wash.) Completes 9-1-1 System

Company Representative May 20, 2014 Product & Service Announcements

Thurston County, (Wash.) recently completed implementation of their public safety 9-1-1 system that supports radio communications for the county’s approximately 1,600 police, fire and EMS users. Working with Motorola Solutions since 2010, Thurston County’s system features 13 radio consoles for 9-1-1 dispatchers, radio and equipment for the 9-1-1 tower and 22 remote radio sites, which also ensured that county met the year’s narrowbanding requirements. The new system has provided recent improvements including a new 9-site simulcast solution – for a smooth and efficient narrowbanding experience.

Thurston 9-1-1 Communications (Tcomm9-1-1) is the sole Public Safety Answering Point (9-1-1 Center) and Dispatch operations for all of Thurston County, Washington.  As well as answering all 9-1-1 calls in Thurston County, Tcomm9-1-1 provides alerting and radio dispatch services for 22 public safety agencies including fire, emergency medical systems (EMS) and law enforcement.  Thurston County has 758 square miles of diverse topography and a population of approximately 260 thousand people and is centered on Washington States capitol city of Olympia. With an aging radio system that was no longer supported and experiencing degraded performance, a new radio system was required.  Tcomm9-1-1 selected Motorola Solutions to provide a system with a stringent set of coverage requirements, turn-key design, system and site engineering, installation, and performance proof of coverage.
