SEARCH provides expert training and technical assistance for a variety of information sharing-related initiatives. Its team has extensive experience planning, designing, implementing, acquiring, and measuring the effectiveness of technology in justice, public safety, and emergency communications.
SEARCH receives funding from the U.S. Department of Justice’s Bureau of Justice Assistance (BJA) to provide technical assistance to public safety and emergency communications agencies to improve justice information sharing.
This funding allows SEARCH to provide public safety and emergency communications agencies with free training and technical assistance to tackle their information sharing and technology integration challenges at no direct cost to the agency.
All local, regional, state, tribal and territorial public safety and emergency communications agencies nationwide qualify to receive free assistance.
SEARCH’s Information Sharing Program helps justice and public safety practitioners at all levels of government succeed through effective and efficient use of appropriate technology, standards and industry best practices.
Jurisdictions in various states and territories have already benefited from SEARCH assistance.
In California and Kansas SEARCH assisted with information sharing/public safety project management, conducted public safety software needs assessments and gathered requirements for developing RFPs for integrated systems to improve information sharing.
In Illinois and Virginia SEARCH conducted technology assessments to develop an enterprise strategic plan and IT roadmap, taken a holistic approach to lifecycle management, integrated new and existing technology and improved information sharing capabilities.
In Kansas SEARCH established multiagency program governance and developed policies, technology integration and strategic planning for PSAP consolidation.
In New York and Virginia SEARCH assisted with establishing governance, conducted business process modeling to assess call for service and information workflow to develop policies, procedures and improve call processing and information sharing capabilities with internal and external stakeholders.
In Puerto Rico SEARCH has assessed information sharing capabilities.
In addition to these types of projects, SEARCH team members have led successful large and small technology implementation projects, facilitated the development of statewide technology policy initiatives, made significant contributions to national and international technology standards and have substantial expertise in the modeling of information exchange requirements. SEARCH authored the COPS Law Enforcement Tech Guides, is a provider for the DHS OEC Interoperable Communications Technical Assistance Program (ICTAP), and a member of SAFECOM.
