Six Public Safety Agencies Receive APCO P33 Certification

APCO International June 26, 2014 APCO

Six public safety agencies – York County Dept. of Emergency Services (Pa.), Fauquier County Sheriff’s Office (Va.), Lewiston Police Department (Id.), Stafford County Sheriff’s Office of Emergency Communications (Va.),  Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office (Fla.) and Denver 911 – have met the minimum training standards for the Association of Public-Safety Communications Officials (APCO) International Project 33 Training Program Certification-2010 (P33 Certification) and have been awarded certification as of April 10, 2014.

Public safety agencies utilize P33 Certification as a formal mechanism to ensure their training programs meet APCO American National Standards (ANS). Initial and continuing training for public safety telecommunicators is important as they provide essential services to the public in an expanding and rapidly changing environment.

“P33 Certification plays a vital role in keeping agencies up-to-date with their procedures and training programs. York County Dept. of Emergency Services has shown dedication to their community and those they serve by becoming P33 certified,” said APCO President Gigi Smith.

All six agencies will be recognized during the Food for Thought Luncheon taking place August 6 at 11:30 a.m. as part of APCO’s 80th Annual Conference & Expo in New Orleans. To obtain a complimentary press pass, please contact Meghan McCluskey at 571-312-4400 or mccluskeym@apcointl.org.
