APCO 2014 has drawn to a close, and what a week it was in New Orleans.

Congratulations to John Wright, who was sworn in as APCO president on Wednesday night at the President’s Dinner. Look for his first column in the September issue of Public Safety Communications to learn more about his goals for APCO in the coming year, or visit APCO TV to view his interview live from the conference floor.

Congratulations are also in order to Cheryl Greathouse, who won the election for Second Vice President, and to Brent Lee for his election to First Vice President.

While there was much to celebrate and many awards given, there was also much accomplished. One conference highlight was a townhall meeting with FirstNet general manager T.J. Kennedy. Kennedy’s blog on the productive session at APCO can be found on the FirstNet website, and you can learn more about FirstNet’s progress in leveraging commercial technology for public safety in the August issue of PSC.

APCO’s Annual Conference & Expo is an opportunity to hear updates from the association’s many federal partners. The full written statement from FCC Commissioner Jessica Rosenworcel is now online and can be read here.

Remember that session recordings, evaluations and CEU certificates are all available online for those looking to further their education and their careers. With such a full agenda, there’s no time to do it all.

Thank you to our inspirational speakers, educational instructors, generous sponsors, and most importantly to all the APCO members who took the time out of their busy schedules to participate. You are the ones who make this association great.
