Intergraph’s Computer-Aided Dispatch Solution Implemented by Canadian Forces Base Esquimalt

Company Representative December 18, 2014 Product & Service Announcements

Canadian Forces Base (CFB) Esquimalt, home to the Maritime Forces Pacific Naval Base and home port to Maritime Forces Pacific and Joint Task Force Pacific Headquarters, has implemented Intergraph’s computer-aided dispatch solution to manage fire, emergency, and base events. The solution provides CFB Esquimalt with a trusted platform for incident management, as well as automated coordination with British Columbia Ambulance Service (BCAS) for emergency medical services (EMS).

CFB Esquimalt’s implementation of Intergraph’s industry-leading dispatch system, I/CAD, allows the base to manage events in real-time and in accordance to its standard operating procedures. Event data can now be shared instantly between CFB Esquimalt and BCAS bi-directionally so that appropriate response resources can be dispatched. Should an emergency arise, the data in its I/CAD system can quickly be actioned as an incident and commence standard operating procedures which may include dispatching paramedic aid from BCAS.

“The I/CAD solution helped us accomplish our objective in achieving greater situational awareness on base,” said Steve Mullen, CFB Esquimalt fire chief. “By designing the solution to our procedures and automating updates with our surrounding public safety community, we have added tremendous efficiencies to protecting and serving our personnel and visitors.”

Intergraph has a dominant presence in the Canadian public safety community. I/CAD is certified to run on the Defence Wide Area Network (DWAN) of the Department of National Defence (DND)—which Canadian Armed Forces and its bases are part of—making it a safe and complementary fit to DND’s exacting technology standards.

CFB Esquimalt provides support services to all ships and personnel of the Maritime Forces Pacific. The base, located west of Victoria in British Columbia, operates its own services including police, fire, ambulance, legal and social work. Its security forces are partly responsible for the safety and security of Esquimalt Harbour. CFB Esquimalt and Maritime Forces Pacific employ approximately 4,000 military personnel and 2,000 civilians.
