MCP Supports Memphis Police Communications Technology Roll-out

Company Representative January 6, 2015 Product & Service Announcements

Mission Critical Partners, Inc. (MCP) announced today that it has been selected by the Memphis Police Department to support its deployment of new in-vehicle and body-worn video cameras, in addition to an automatic vehicle location (AVL) system.

The in-vehicle cameras will be installed in 900 vehicles in the department’s fleet. Meanwhile, the body-worn cameras will be issued to all of the department’s patrol officers.

“Both types of cameras are being deployed in order to generate court-admissible evidence that not only will help prosecutors build a better a case, but which also will protect officers from wrongful accusations, and citizens if officers act inappropriately,” said Rex Hollaway, an MCP technical specialist who is leading the firm’s efforts on the project.

The department will install the Global Positioning System (GPS)-based AVL system in all vehicles in its fleet used by patrol officers and supervisors. One key benefit is that the system will improve the ability of dispatchers to identify the closest-available unit.

“As recent events have shown, things happen very fast during emergency incidents, and it is not always easy to discern exactly what happened,” said Kevin Murray, MCP’s president and co-founder. “The in-vehicle and body-worn cameras will be a tremendous help in this regard.

“Meanwhile, by helping dispatchers locate the closest-available unit, the AVL system will help to speed emergency response and ensure that the appropriate units are dispatched. We’re thrilled to support the Memphis Police Department in these important projects.”
