Site Link to Boost Multi-Site Coverage for Users of Sepura DMR Tier II Systems
Cambridge, 5th March 2015 – Sepura Site Link is set to enhance communications for organisations operating a DMR Tier II system across multiple locations.
Site Link, which launches this month, is available as a free upgrade for Sepura DMR Tier II users and – uniquely – allows up to 32 repeaters to be linked via a standard IP network.
This expands the capability of the system, extending coverage to remove black spots and allowing effortless communication with users on different frequency bands or at remote locations, country- or even worldwide.
Using DMR’s two-slot TDMA architecture, the software allows each timeslot to be designated as either local or wide area: local communications are repeated solely by the ‘home’ repeater; wide-area communications are transmitted to other repeaters across the network.
Uniquely, each wide-area slot is given an ID number and communications are repeated to other slots with the same ID. This allows highly flexible system design, since the slots can be allocated independently at each site.
“Site Link is a fantastic upgrade for our DMR customers,” said Product Manager Stuart Longley. “It extends the reach of Tier II radio systems, bridging the gaps between sites to allow communication across large distances or in areas that previously lacked coverage. In addition, the resilient architecture ensures that the network continues to function even if certain sites fail.”
Chris D’Aguiar, Sepura’s VP Commercial, commented: “This is another exciting addition to our broadening DMR portfolio. The introduction of Sepura Site Link as a no-cost option confirms our commitment both to delivering innovative products and to providing additional value and flexibility for our customers and channel partners.”
