A Conversation at the International Wireless Communications Expo 2015

PREPARING THE RESPONDER OF THE FUTURE

IN BRIEF

Do you have a great idea about how to apply cutting-edge smart technologies to make our communities more resilient and secure? We want to talk with you! Join the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Science and Technology Directorate (S&T) First Responders Group (FRG) for an interactive conversation to connect industry innovators, developers and technologists with first responders.

To meet growing homeland security challenges, S&T must operate at the pace of innovation and discovery. S&T is building new partnerships and approaching research and development (R&D) differently to keep our nation more connected, protected and aware of new threats and risks. S&T is looking for your insights on a new initiative—preparing the “Responder of the Future.”

Members of the FRG team will discuss their work integrating R&D planning with emerging and existing technologies to enhance first responders’ capabilities to meet evolving threats. FRG envisions first responders who are protected, connected and fully aware, enabling faster, more efficient and safer response to disasters of all sizes. S&T wants to use interoperable wireless technologies such as wearables, Internet of Things (IoT) systems and smart cities to enhance the operational effectiveness and safety of our nation’s first responders. We want to hear from you about how innovative technologies can revolutionize emergency response efforts and serve as
anchors for innovation and resiliency across the country.

Get an inside look at how FRG is improving first responder R&D and:

  • Understand where to start and how to do business with S&T.
  • Learn about first responder challenges and capability gaps and how your work can help them save lives.
  • Hear from FRG on how to collaborate directly with stakeholders to ensure technologies make the right impact.
  • Tell S&T FRG what is needed from government to operate at the pace of innovation and be a stronger partner in the digital age.
  • Continue the conversation by visiting us at www.firstresponder.gov or by joining the S&T National Conversation at http://scitech.ideascale.com/
