APCO Seeks Comments on Draft Standard Core Competencies and Minimum Training Standards for Public Safety Communications Training Coordinator
Alexandria, VA – The Association of Public-Safety Communications Officials (APCO) International is seeking comments on a Candidate American National Standard (ANS) released today that identifies core competencies and minimum training requirements for the public safety communications training coordinator.
This candidate standard revision identifies the core competencies and minimum training for individuals performing the task of training coordination. This position is typically tasked with the planning, development, coordination, implementation, and administration of training within an agency.
“Oversight of the agency training programs for public safety telecommunicators is critical. Appropriate training helps to ensure professional, reliable and timely service to our communities” said John Wright, president of APCO International.
The public review and comment period is an important step in the standard development process. This provides an opportunity for all interested parties to review and contribute.
