Today the Association of Public-Safety Communications Officials (APCO) International announced that the cyber intelligence experts of TeleCommunication Systems (TCS) will present public safety focused cybersecurity training, hosted by and in conjunction with APCO’s Annual Conference & Expo taking place in August in Washington, D.C.

A leader in public safety, precise location and cybersecurity training and services, TCS provides training and services for public safety organizations to protect systems operations from attack, interruption and intrusion.  TCS’ cyber intelligence business unit provides cybersecurity training and services to government and enterprise organizations, building upon the experience and expertise gained in supporting the nation’s critical infrastructure and federal agencies.

The training, scheduled for August 15, includes a two-hour introductory course that will provide an overview of cyber threats, public safety attack vectors in a new IP-based environments like (NG 9-1-1 and FirstNet) and information on security essentials, followed by a four-hour intermediate course that builds upon the principles taught in the first session.

“No one is safe from cyber threats. We must take proactive steps to train our agencies to defend against and respond to these threats and the best way is to educate our first responders and telecommunicators,” said APCO President John Wright.  “Giving TCS a forum to deliver this important training enables our members to benefit from their expertise and gives APCO an opportunity to provide a unique educational experience.”
