APCO is Seeking Participants for the Quality Assurance of APCO American National Standards Sub-Committee
June 3, 2016 – Alexandria, VA – The Association of Public-Safety Communications Officials (APCO) International has issued a call for participation for committee members to participate on a sub-committee responsible for the quality assurance of APCO Standards Development Activities.
The quality assurance sub-committee will ensure adherence to the ANSI and APCO style requirements, review all standards for quality before public review, and before publishing the standard. Additionally, this sub-committee will ensure compliance with copyright guidelines, review footnotes, references and web links for accuracy, and ensure that proper terminology guidelines are used. They will also review Top Ops articles prior to submission to the publisher.
APCO is now seeking volunteers to become members of the sub-committee that will participate in this process. The sub-committee will be under the control of the APCO Standards Development Committee (SDC) and the sub-committee chair will report to the chair of the SDC. APCO is seeking diverse participants with backgrounds in PSAP operations and management, technologists and app developers, and general interest participants such as interested government agencies and entities. Qualifications specific to this sub-committee include knowledge of Microsoft Word, proficient grammar and spelling, and a high attention to detail. The Standards Development Committee has limited the size of the group to no more than 15 people. The SDC chair and vice-chair, with the assistance of APCO staff, will conduct a selection process once the application deadline is reached.
All interested persons should complete the online application at SDC Application. The application deadline is June 30, 2016. Selections will be made within two weeks of the deadline and all applicants will be notified of their status.
