Meet Your AFC Advisors: Scott Andrews (California)
AFC, APCO’s frequency coordination department, is pleased to introduce its network of dedicated local advisor volunteers. APCO’s advisors are responsible for frequency coordination in their home state and we would like to bring awareness and recognition to the dedication they exhibit on a daily basis. Scott Andrews currently serves as the Communications Division Manager for Sacramento Metropolitan Fire District. Previously, he worked for 8 years as the RF Engineer for the City of Sacramento managing all public safety communications systems, winning the IT Employee of the Year in 2013. Beginning in communications in 1995 with Motorola, Scott has over 21 years of continuous public safety communications service, including 8 years of service with the County of Sacramento. Having served on the Northern California APCO Board of Director’s since 2007, Scott filled the office of President twice, first in 2012 and again in 2015. He has also filled the role of APCO Local Frequency Advisor since 2009, and currently is the Vice Chair of both 700 and 800 MHz Regional Planning Committees for Region 6 (Northern CA). Additionally, Scott chaired the 2015 APCO Western Regional Conference held in Downtown Sacramento.
Scott and his beautiful wife Jacquelynn have been married 21 years, and have two wonderful sons; Collin and Max. Scott and his family have been involved in youth baseball for the past 12 years, as well as many community fund raising events. Scott and his family enjoy restoring classic cars and building hot rods, in fact Scott and his wife Jacquelynn met while they were both drag racing at Sacramento Raceway Park.
