Meet Your AFC Advisors: Dave Saffel (West Virginia)

APCO International February 16, 2017 Industry

AFC, APCO’s frequency coordination department, is pleased to introduce its network of dedicated local advisor volunteers. APCO’s advisors are responsible for frequency coordination in their home state and we would like to bring awareness and recognition to the dedication they exhibit on a daily basis. Please feel free to reach out to our local advisors with any questions dealing with FCC Part 90 licensing and frequency coordination.

Dave Saffel began his public safety communications career with the West Virginia State Police as a chief technician for 14 counties of the state in April 1977.  In 1992, he became the chief engineer of the agency and still serves in that capacity.  In 2000, he also graduated from Fairmont State University with a Bachelor Degree in Business. Since 1992 he has been the West Virginia APCO Executive Council representative, and in 2009 became an AFC local advisor. During that period, he has served as a member and chair of the AFC Advisory Committee. Dave continues to be the West Virginia local advisor, and hopes to continue performing that duty after retiring from the state police sometime in the near future.
