APCO International March 30, 2017 Industry

AFC, APCO’s frequency coordination department, is pleased to introduce its network of dedicated local advisor volunteers. APCO’s advisors are responsible for frequency coordination in their home state and we would like to bring awareness and recognition to the dedication they exhibit on a daily basis. Please feel free to reach out to our local advisors with any questions dealing with FCC Part 90 licensing and frequency coordination.

Jeffrey Smith started his public safety career in the town of Cape Elizabeth at the age of 16 as an EMT for the local ambulance.  At 18 years old, he was hired as a part-time public safety dispatcher while still a senior in high school. About a year later he was hired as a full time dispatcher at the Falmouth Police Dept. and then became a police officer within a few years. In 1987, he was hired as a full time police officer in the town of Windham and in 2005 he was appointed to the Windham High School as a school resource officer. He later returned to Falmouth and resumed duties as a full time police officer.

During his police career he has also been a communications officer and holds all of the NLETS and NCIC Certifications. Jeffrey Smith is currently a dispatcher in Falmouth and also has patrol duties.

Jeffrey is divorced with one son who is a pilot for Delta.
