Silent Key: Jim Beutelspacher

APCO International February 16, 2018 APCO

The battle is over. Jim has put down his sword and sailed off to heaven with his shipmates. After 55 months of cancer, he passed away Feb. 11, 2018. He was born April 14, 1941, in St Paul.

Jim proudly served 21 years with the United States Naval Security Group. After retiring from the Navy, he worked for the state of Minnesota for 25 years on the 91–1 program. Upon moving to Greenhouse Village Co-op he worked tirelessly on the board as treasurer and on the finance, building and many other committees. Jim had been called many names in his life, but these are his favorites: Gampa, Bapa, Grampa, and Daddy. Jim is survived by his loving family: wife Winnie, daughters Paige Richards (Mike), Tara Beutelspacher (Amy) and son-in-law Bob Denis; Grandchildren Phil Denis (Huda), James Denis, Lincoln and Amelia Strohman-Beutelspacher, Colette Moorman (Justin), Martine Richards (Andrew Waldman), Eric Richards (Shannon Gale); Great-Grandchildren Bradley, Brenna, Luke, and Evan Moorman; mother Doris Beutelspacher; siblings Bill Beutel, Linda Miller, Gus Virkus (Julie), brother-in-law Bill Brown; and many cherished nephews, nieces, extended family and dear friends. Jim was preceded in death by his parents Bill and Charlotte, sister Janet Weidner, sister-in-law Jeanine, and nephews Edward Weidner and Gary Gerzema.

Visitation from 10 a.m. and funeral service at 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, Feb. 20 at Gustavus Adolphus Lutheran Church, 1669 Arcade Street, St. Paul, MN 55106, (651) 774-5954. Luncheon reception following service and inurnment at Fort Snelling Cemetery at 1:45 p.m.

Jim was admired for his wisdom, quick wit, honesty, kindness, strong faith, great values, and selfless service to his country, community, family, and friends. Thank you so much Dr. Jon Lundgren and Dr. Cheryl Bailey for having the foresight to refer Jim to Dr. Stuart Bloom, his nurse Becky and staff at MN Oncology who gave the gifts of care and time to Jim and our family.
